Rise'n Shine Chicken

Rise’n Shine Poultry is Sami Risen’s FFA project, raised just 1 mile from Together Farms in Mondovi, Wisconsin. As a student at Mondovi High School and an active member of the Mondovi FFA, Sam began raising meat birds as part of her supervised agricultural experience and has spent the past two summers caring for both meat birds and laying hens.

Sam’s birds are ranger-type chickens, a slower-growing kind of broiler that does well in a free-range environment and offers more of a traditional “country chicken” feel. They have plenty of yard space to roam in the sunshine, scratch, peck and enjoy a more natural life outdoors. Raising them from small chicks to healthy finished birds has taught Sami a great deal about responsibility, consistency and problem-solving, from keeping feed and water full to cleaning coops and managing the flock all summer long.

We’re proud to offer Rise’n Shine Poultry at Together Farms because it gives our customers another close-to-home source for thoughtfully raised chicken and it gives a hardworking local student a chance to grow her skills through agriculture. Sam was even recognized with a 1st place award in poultry production at her FFA chapter banquet.
