BN Week 16: Layers of fun & food & family & friends

August 15, 2024

Hello from Together Farms!

It's Onion Week!! πŸ§…

Time to peel back all the layers of awesomeness going on this weekend. Or is it o-wesomeness?

Like Julia Child is quoted as saying in the new book pictured below:

It is hard to imagine a civilization without onions; in one form or another their flavor blends into almost everything in the meal except the dessert.

But first, a fun announcement that is going to make winter a lot more interesting:

We can now sell bottles of wine in the farm store!!! 🍷

We just received our first delivery from Danzinger Vineyards and we'll keep adding other local wines and favorites based on your suggestions (remember, I don't leave this place very often so I'm not always aware of everything going on out there in the big not-TF world).

And since we're talking about the farm store, we just got in a few other things we think you are going to LOVE and restocked some of your favorites!

Avocado Asks is SUCH a fun book, you gotta open it when you're here. And HOLY COW the dough bowl candle is probably my new favorite candle (all the other candles were just restocked too!).

Okay, but we're supposed to talk about the farm store on Tuesdays, and my phone (not my mind) tells me it's Thursday, so let's peel that layer off and get back to Burger Night:

We are only doing a few brand new, first timer ever, Burgers of the Week this year and this week is one of them!

Remember, we aren't chefs, we had ZERO restaurant or public cooking experience prior to Burger Night so we really are just making things up as we go based on what's available.

Sometimes things work out and sometimes they don't, we're hoping this is one of those that comes back every year, see what you think:

Burger of the Week: The Big O πŸ§…

  • from-scratch French Onion sauce (like the chip dip, but better)
  • onion rings made from thick-cut Sweet Spanish onions
  • caramelized onions
  • 100% grassfed beef patty
  • toasted onion Kaiser bun
  • optional: pickled onions from the Burger Bar

Phew! That's a lot of layers of onion-y outstanding-ness.

Brand new Burger of the Week so the only picture I can get you right now is of the diced onions being caramelized for the French Onion sauce.
Watch Facebook and Instagram for pictures when all comes together! Or, better yet, just come take your own picture of what will surely be an Outstandingly delicious & Original BOTW, if you're observant it should be pretty obvious.
Basically, you can tell us what the "O" in The Big O BOTW stands for.

Farm Store Sales

Ope, back to the store again where we will have alllllll the onion-y goodness on sale!!

Including our #1 best-selling Onion & Leek brats!

Trivia at 7pm: The Golden Girls πŸ‘΅

Our always incorrect weather forecast says it's supposed to rain tonight, but we've thought that a few times now with trivia and it turned out to be a nice day and multiple teams showed up. So I'm going to be prepared for it and if you show up, we'll do it!

LIVE MUSIC from Ready SETH Go, 6-9pm

Seth Gamble is a musician based out of the Chippewa Valley. Performing under the name Ready SETH Go, he uses his gift for gab and a little humor to create an entertaining environment performing creative takes on popular songs.

We LOVE Seth!! Looks like it might rain (if you can believe the weather forecast πŸ€₯) but we will be full-steam ahead if it's just rain - so come on out & enjoy what will likely be no wait.

Saturday, August 17

LIVE MUSIC from John Gay, 5:30-8:30pm

Singer-Songwriter, John Gay’s, gritty contemplative sound ripened in prison while he served a nine-year sentence for marijuana that started in 2011. After his release in 2017 John started performing his solo acoustic set at various venues around Wisconsin playing original music he wrote in prison along with covers of his favorite artists such as Jason Isbell, The Lumineers, Chris Stapleton, and Zach Williams.

I know I say this a lot, twice in this post as a matter of fact, but we love John too! (Just like the Burgers of the Week, the musicians everybody like, come back, while some just kind of fade away.)

Sunday, August 18

Family Day! Buy one get one FREE kids meals all day!

Other Updates

Weather pro-tip: check the radar - it might be beautiful here, even if it is raining by you. Storms are usually pretty localized - especially any red/crazy spots.

And even if it is raining here, we have our pavilion! Plus, you might get to enjoy a rainbow! And if you're really lucky, you might see one that appears to never really end. 🧐

Last night was our only Wine Dinner of 2024 and it was so fun! We'd love to do more dinners next year - if you know any willing chefs, send them our way!

Hope to see  you on the farm soon!!

Your farmer & friend,

Stephanie Schneider

How TF Ended Up Nominated in 13 Best Of Categories (Hint: It Was Not My Marketing Skills)

If you ever needed proof that word of mouth is still the most powerful marketing tool on earth, here it is!  Together Farms was nominated in thirteen different Best of the Chippewa Valley categories! That is not a typo. Lucky number 13. Our biggest year yet!  Best Organic FarmBest Family Entertainment BusinessBest Place to Buy MeatBest Food Event (Burger Nights at Together Farms)Best Restaurant for Gluten-Free DiningBest Restaurant for Outdoor DiningBest Special Event Venue Small (Under 100)Best French Fries (Non-Franchise)Best Fried Cheese/CurdsBest Restaurant AtmosphereBest BurgerBest Shop for Gifts (Together Farms farm store)Best Restaurant Worth the DriveBest Place to Impress Out-of-town Guests You might be asking yourself the same question that I asked myself when I saw the list. How in the world does a business that does not post consistently on social media, does not send the Sunday recipe emails like it promises (sorry!), and does not even text regularly keep growing? And how does it end up popping up in all these categories?? The answer is simple: You. Together Farms is on the map because you talk to people about us. You tell coworkers to come out for Burger Night. You drag friends here to see the farm. You tag us in your posts and stories. You create reels that make our place look as magical as it feels in person. You share our meat with your families (and really good friends). You tell people where to find 100% grassfed beef, pastured pork and a really good time. You continue to overlook all our faults.  And when polls come around that help guide locals on where to go and what to do, you take a minute and click our name. So yeah, our marketing basically depends on you gossiping, but it is the wholesome kind. 😊 The Midwest kind. The kind that builds community instead of tearing anyone down. This is small town communication at its finest. As is being demonstrated in the photo.  Being recognized in all these categories is humbling and exciting and maybe a touch confusing for me, but mostly it is a reminder that this place means something to you.  It means enough that you talk about it when we are too busy or too tired or too overwhelmed to talk about it ourselves. That is not something we take lightly. But we haven't won yet!  So if you have a moment and want to toss a vote our way in the categories you think we actually earned, here is the link (or when you are on the Best Of site do a search for Together Farms): https://bit.ly/TFBestOf26 Every vote helps more people find us all year long since the Best Of magazine and website are probably the most used and trusted resources for finding things to do, places to be and people to support around here. We could not be more grateful for the community that keeps this little farm growing. Love you lots!  Steph & the TF Family
