Collard Greens & Ham Hocks

Ingredients
- (2 pounds) collard greens washed and cut
- (2) Smoked Pork Hocks (cooked, uncured)
- (1) yellow onion chopped
- (1 tablespoon) minced garlic
- (2) jalapeno peppers chopped
- (1 teaspoon) seasoning salt
- (1 teaspoon) black pepper
- (2 tablespoons) apple cider vinegar
- (8 cups) water
Directions
- Place the ham hocks, onions, garlic, and peppers into the slow cooker, then pour in 8 cups of water.
- Put the lid on the slow cooker and set on high for 6 hours.
- After 4 hours the ham hocks should be tender and falling off of the bone. Start adding in the collard greens.
- Sprinkle in the salt & pepper and add in the apple cider vinegar. Give everything a stir, then let cook for two more hours.
- Serve and enjoy!
To Freeze and Cook Later:
Add all ingredients except collard greens to gallon sized freezer bag.
Store greens in separate freezer bag or keep in pantry/refrigerator until cooking day. Label and freeze.
To Cook:
Let thaw overnight then pour contents of gallon-sized freezer bag into slow cooker and add 8 cups of water. Cook on high for 4 hours.
After 4 hours when ham hocks become tender and start falling off the bone add collard greens.
Sprinkle in the salt and pepper and add in the apple cider vinegar. Give everything a stir, then let cook for two more hours.
