Product Details

All of this fish was sustainably-harvested in Alaska by a Wisconsin commercial fisherman (Bering Bounty) it was portioned and flash-frozen in AK to ensure maximum flavor and freshness just for you!

Crazy good for you! For example, King salmon is the largest of all the salmon AND the highest in Omega-3's of any salmon on the planet: a whopping 1700mg/3.5oz portion! A mere 3oz serving will also give you 22g of complete protein!

King
has a rich, buttery flavor with its higher fat content delivering a luscious taste and texture. Flavor is more mild and slightly sweet with a more delicate and tender firmness. All of which makes it highly versatile in the kitchen.

Sockeye has bold salmon flavor with a tender but meaty bite. One of the most flavorful of the salmons. Firm texture holds up to grilling, smoking or sushi.

Coho Salmon is your best choice if you prefer less fat (30% less fat than King!) but is still chock full of Omega-3's, complete proteins and vitamins and minerals! Coho flesh is more orange and more mild flavored (since it has a lower fat content, but then be more careful cooking it!).

Pink is your best choice if you don't much care for the taste of fish and if you don't have any time to waste but you still want to be healthy because of all salmon it has the 2nd highest in Omega 3's, has a mild taste compared to the other salmons (because its lower in fat, is smaller and has a shorter lifecycle), has a very light texture, cooks fast: just 12 minutes straight from the freezer!

Sad facts:

  • 90% of the seafood consumed in the US is imported (mostly from China and Russia). With most of the salmon coming from fish factories in Norway and Chile.
  • Most grocery store salmon is processed overseas and re-imported through a long supply chain of middlemen.
  • Typically 7-10 middlemen are used to get fish from water to shelf.
  • Farmed salmon.
    • Raised in a "fish factory" or CAFO (Confined Animal Feeding Operation) in cages full of parasites and diseases (b/c the fish are so unhappy they are trying to die).
    • Eat GMO soy & corn, meat by-products like chicken feathers, canola meal and dye. Note the high soy composition in their feed means goodbye healthy omega-3s and hello inflammatory disease-causing omega-6s!
    • doused regularly with pesticides and antibiotics (sea lice, eww) but still have a staggering death rate of 15-20%.

Seafood Watch, an independent guide to fish consumption affiliated with the Monterey Bay Aquarium, recommends avoiding most farmed Atlantic salmon because of excessive chemical use and disease. Read more HERE.

FAQs:

  • I don't know how to cook all these different types of fish, could you help me please?
    • Absolutely! Captain Mark has provided us with all his favorite recipes taking the fish straight from freezer-to-pan in mere minutes and TF has their favorites posted on the RECIPE PAGE too (or go to each individual fish page for recipes specific to that fish)!
    • Bonus: we'll include printed recipe cards!
  • How will I receive my product?
    • Shipped orders will arrive in an insulated box with dry ice to keep items frozen until they reach your home. Transit from our farm to your door is kept as minimal as possible.
  • How is the fish packaged?
    • All products are Individually vacuum-sealed in BPA-free plastic.
  • What does "sustainably harvested" mean?
    • The Alaska State Department of Fish and Game monitors all commercial, sport, and residential salmon fishing. This means a set number of permits are sold each season based on predictions of the number of salmon expected to return to spawn. As the salmon move towards the bay, researchers actively monitor their movement and count the number of salmon in each school. They then use this data to determine when the fishermen are allowed to fish, if the volume of salmon is too low they are not allowed to fish. Once the volume rises to a number which allows for enough fish to escape upstream to spawn, the fishermen are given a set amount of time that they are allowed to fish. This timed fishing allowance and escapement number is vital to the sustainability of salmon.
