Ingredients
- Brat Patties
- Swiss Cheese
- Sauerkraut
- 1000 Island dressing or whole-grain mustard
- Pretzel bun
- Optional: burger patty, raw or pickled red onions, sautéed onions
Directions
- Patties can be cooked however you (and the weather) prefer - grilled, flat top, etc. We are going to go stove top with cast iron - heat that bad boy up on medium heat. Once hot, add the patties (do NOT smash down on them with a spatula while they cook - just making yourself a dry patty), cook until cooked through and internal temp reaches 160°F (about 7 minutes). Add cheese during last minute or two of cooking.
- While the patties cook, butter & toast the buns (do NOT skip this!).
- Assemble: bottom bun > thin smear of mayo to keep the bun from getting soggy > brat patty > kraut (best to warm up slightly) > 1000 island > top bun.
- Serve with cheese curds, an Oktoberfest beer and a game of bags!
