Ingredients
- (1 lb) Ham Steak (naturally smoked, NO nitrates/ites)
- (2 Tbsp) butter
- (1/2 cup) water
- (2 Tbsp) Dijon mustard
- (1/4 cup) brown sugar or honey
- (1 tsp) paprika
Directions
- Heat 1 Tbsp of butter in a large skillet* over medium-high heat. Add the ham steak and brown on both sides, 5ish minutes. Note: the ham steak is already cooked so you don't need to worry about cooking through or reaching an internal temperature, but you do need to NOT overcook because it will get dry - this step is trying to get some browning on the surface.
- Remove the steak from the skillet and keep warm. Add the remaining ingredients to the pan and cook until sugar is dissolved, 5 min (if using honey just heat through).
- Add ham steak to sauce in the skillet and cook until glaze is heated into the steak, roughly 3-5 min.
- Serve with mashed potatoes or squash, green beans, buttery biscuits and applesauce! ENJOY!
Got leftovers? Dice up and add to mac & cheese, breakfast casseroles or scrambled eggs, fried rice, etc!
*If the ham steak is too big for any of your skillets, make the sauce on the stovetop, heat the oven to 350°F, line a cookie sheet with tin foil place the ham steak on it, cover with sauce and cover with foil. Bake for 15 min or until heated through.
