Ingredients
- (3-4 lbs) Short Ribs
- (1 tsp) Sea salt
- (1 tsp) Black pepper
- (3 cups (or 2 1/2 cups broth + 1/2 cup red wine)) Simple Beef Bone Broth, 32 oz (sugar-free, unsalted)
- (1/4 cup) Worcestershire sauce (Lea & Perrins has clean ingredients)
- (1 tsp) Garlic powder
- (1 tsp) Onion powder
- (1 sprig (or 1 Tbsp dried)) Fresh rosemary
- Optional: sliced onion, whole garlic cloves
Directions
- Heat a large skillet over high heat. Season the short ribs with salt and pepper then sear the ribs on each of the 4 sides for about 60 seconds per side. (I usually skip this step to avoid the extra time and dishes but it definitely adds extra flavor so you decide.)
- To the slow cooker add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder, stir to combine. Add optional sliced onion and garlic cloves now. Add the short ribs to the liquid. Place rosemary sprig on top of meat and put the lid on.
- Cook on low for 6-8 hours, until meat is tender. Serve with baked, mashed or smashed potatoes (see gravy recipe below) and some green veggies like asparagus, beans or Brussel sprouts.
Optional Gravy: Melt 2 Tbsp butter in a saucepan, whisk 2 Tbsp of flour into butter, slowly pour in strained juices from slow cooker and simmer over medium-high heat, stirring continuously, until thickened.
Other cooking methods: Insta-Pot on High for 45 minutes. Oven: 300℉ for 3 hours, covered.
