Ingredients
- (2 lbs) Ground Beef, 1 lb pkgs
- (1) Large, yellow onion, chopped
- (1) Small head of cabbage, chopped
- (2, 14.5 oz cans) Diced tomatoes, fire-roasted
- (1, 8oz can) Tomato sauce,
- (1/2 cup) Water or broth
- (4) Garlic cloves, minced
- (1 Tbsp) Salt
- (2 tsp) Black pepper, ground
Directions
- Heat a 5qt Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat. Cook ground beef and onion until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes; drain and save fat for the morning’s breakfast potatoes.
- Add cabbage, tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, garlic, salt, and pepper and bring to a boil. Cover Dutch oven, reduce heat, and simmer until cabbage is tender, about 30 minutes.
- Serve hot with rice and enjoy!
Note: Our 100% grassfed ground beef can be substituted with a blend of ground beef and ground pork, pork sausage or kielbasa.
Note: Diced tomatoes don't have to be fire-roasted and a can of crushed tomatoes can be substituted for a saucier texture.
Optional: add 1 cup long grain rice + 2 cups of water/broth with the rest of the ingredients in step 2. There are a lot of ways to tweak this recipe to your liking - try it!
